meat & chicken paintings
… when I first choose to portray meat in my paintings, I was reeling from a death in my family. Before that point, I had never thought of painting meat. However, at that moment it seemed right. My my head I thought of Dutch still life painters and their paintings of meat. I thought of my own family and my grandfather spending part of his life as a butcher. In that moment, it seemed natural to start painting meat and I fell in love. The patten you can find in meat and the way I could portray life and death with this new still life item fit
